The purpose of the Dorothy McDonald Fund is to provide funding for orchestra programming at East Lansing High School. The Endowment will support the work needed to create strong musicians and strong programs related to performing with the ELHS orchestras.  The endowment is committed to keeping the arts strong within public education because arts have a positive impact on children and the local community.

The endowment was established by friends and colleagues of longtime ELHS orchestra teacher Dorothy McDonald and is open to all donors.

------

Jason Wildman Scholarship Fund (established in 2007)
The purpose of the Jason Wildman Fund is to encourage a financially at-risk student in the East Lansing Public Schools to succeed in school. The designated student will be selected during the 2008 - 2009 school year by the ELEF from the sixth grade classes in the East Lansing Public Schools, based upon recommendations from school representatives.

1.   The Fund will pay for the student’s necessary school expenses (up to $500 annually) while the student is in middle school and high school.  (It is contemplated that such expenses might include a wide variety of needs, such as books, supplies, tutoring, program fees, and even a good winter coat.)
2.   Once the designated student has graduated from high school, distributions from the Fund will pay for the student’s education at any accredited college or university in the United States, or any accredited provider of other types of career-oriented training (in the United States) should the student seek training for a career that does not require a college degree.
3.    It is the intention of the Donors to provide a level of funding – through the Fund – sufficient to cover room and board and in-state tuition at a representative state university in Michigan for four years.  Insofar as funds are available, support will be available for up to five years if the student is pursuing a four-year degree.

The scholarship was established by Susan and Steve Wildman in memory their son, Jason, and is open to all donors.
