Annual Awards Recognition Dinner

A record number of guests attended the East Lansing Educational Foundation's  9th Annual Awards Recognition Dinner and Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Eagle Eye Golf and Athletic Center in East Lansing. The program honored individuals whose outstanding efforts have contributed to the quality of education in East Lansing Schools and whose East Lansing education has contributed to the quality of life in their community. Funds raised from this event will support the foundation’s Grants for Teachers program.

ELEF’s 2009 honorees included (left to right, with State Representative Mark Meadows, fourth from left): Judith Brown Clarke ELHS ’79, Dave Ledebuhr ELHS ’76, Daniel Gross ELHS ’85, Representative Meadows, Rod Ritchison, Jill Young, John Brandenburg, Mary Lou Turnbull and Mike Berry.




Guests

(From left): ELEF President Julie Cawood laughs during dinner with Master of Ceremonies Jason Colthorp and ELEF Vice President and Dinner Chair Dennis Hamilton and Tami Hamilton. The evening included announcements of the Sternberg Marshall Endowment Fund for Performing Arts, the Jason Wildman Scholarship, and an anonymous $30,000 gift to endow the East Lansing High School Alumni Association.








Golfers

Before the awards dinner, golfers, including (from left) Dave Kahn, East Lansing City Manager Ted Staton, Pat Berardo, and ELEF Board Member and Golf Chair Joan Berardo, played Eagle Eye in a scramble format. Golf sponsorships, including lead sponsors Jani-King and Jackson National Life, helped raise money for the foundations Grants to Teachers Program, which has awarded over $125,000 to East Lansing Public School District teachers over the last two decades.
